PROJECT BRIEF

The University of East Anglia, one of the UK’s premier higher educational institutions requested a multi-way duct installation across playing fields, including three complex directional drilling procedures off-highway. John Henry Group’s Communications and Educomm divisions were tasked with connecting several campuses at UEA, Norwich.

SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE USED

These works involved a multi way duct installation and included 3 difficult directional drills, one which involved drilling under the River Yare. The drill under the river Yare required many Environmental precautions including the use of an ecobore drilling fluid. The job successfully used Geo-sight to evidence compliance and quality to the client, as well as monitoring the safety of our staff and management teams on site. With this remote technology, we were able to prove real-time project progress to UEA, our business partner.

OUTCOME

The job was completed on time and to budget, and evidences how JH’s expertise in Specialist Civil engineering works and Cabling and Fibre is a cost effective solution to University private networks. The Ofcom code powers that the JH group holds, allows JH to build private networks both on the highway and landlord owned lands.
