CAMDEN GATEWAY CIVIL ENGINEERING PROJECT

Britannia Junction is located at the intersection of Camden High Street, Parkway, Kentish Town Road, Camden Road and Greenland Road, and includes the small public space outside the Camden Town Underground Station.

The goal of the works was to reduce the overcrowded footways and create a more welcoming ‘gateway’ to Camden.

Part of the proposals was to include an enlarged public space adjacent to the Underground station as well as on the north side of Parkway. The project provided a dramatic improvement to the pedestrian environment with direct crossings and the removal of all street clutter.

We accelerated our works programme twice in order to meet our Client’s changing and challenging deadlines ahead of the Olympics. Camden High Street and Parkway in particular were extremely high profile due to the Olympic Torch Relay.
