John Henry Group Directors

The John Henry Group’s directing staff offer a wealth of commercial and industry knowledge gained from many years’ combined experience of working across the communications, civil engineering, fibre and highways arenas.

JOHN HENRY

Group Director Civil Engineering

John has been working in Civil Engineering and High Speed Traffic Management for more than 30 years, with a wealth of experience in highways infrastructure and maintenance. John’s dynamic and energetic approach to solving client problems has contributed to John Henry Group’s successes with major civil engineering partners including Balfour Beatty, Carillion, Ringway Jacobs and May guerney. John enjoys helping clients find the best solutions to civil engineering projects.

STEVE HENRY

Fibre & Engineering Services Director

Steve has worked in telecommunications for 25 years, initially as a technician setting up CATV networks prior to setting up his own company Biscomm, a cabling and activation contractor covering East Anglia. 10 years ago Biscomm was acquired by the John Henry Group. Biscomm has since expanded and with Steve as Managing Director, currently holds several national contracts for various telecom providers.

MARTIN COOK

Group HSEQ Director

Martin is a highly qualified health, safety and quality professional, overseeing a highly capable and innovative health and safety programme within the John Henry Group. This includes working with the latest technology to improve and refine staff performance and safety standards to ensure John Henry Group personnel continue to work to the highest recognised standards. Previous to working in the John Henry Group, Martin had a strong engineering infrastructure background, spending 23 years at BT and also working with Enterprise PLC, GTL Europe and Cofley GDF-Suez. He is also a qualified engineer with a strong understanding of both civil engineering and fibre network design and the associated risks and legal issues associated with each field.

JIM HENRY

Group Director Civil Engineering Communications

As a company director of the John Henry Group, Jim has more than three decades of specialist civil engineering and telecoms experience devising solutions to engineering problems through new installation technologies and equipment. His particular expertise includes directional drilling, no dig excavation methods and deep excavations. He is passionate about devising new methods and techniques to reduce the cost of installing telecom civils through new methods and techniques. Jim’s expertise has helped companies including BT Openreach, Interoute, Virgin Media and Vodafone successfully grow their infrastructure footprints.

JASON MEALEY

Group Telecomms Director

Jason has worked in telecoms and civil engineering communications for 25 years, having been with the John Henry Group for nearly two decades. His division, John Henry Communications, is responsible for planning the civil engineering side of FTTx deployment for various telcos and MSOs, including Virgin Media and Vodafone.

PAT HENRY

Director (Communications Civil Engineering)

Pat Henry is a company director of the John Henry Group. Pat’s experience and expertise have become a vital, value adding additive for many major and growing telcos and MSOs over the past three decades. Whilst working with the John Henry Group, Pat has worked with just about every ISP and service operator within the communications civil engineering arena.

KEVIN COLLINS

Group Finance Director

DAVID SCOTT

Group Commercial Director

David is a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) with many years experience within construction, utility and manufacturing organisations. He has been a Director for multinational, quoted and successful family run businesses with a common theme of providing goods and services for major blue chip organisations. He has gained a deep appreciation of the larger customer needs and requirements at both an operational and commercial level, having run key business relationships at several organisations. He is currently the group’s Finance and Commercial director, with responsibilities covering Finance, HR and  IT and oversees all commercial activity with regular personal customer contact.

MARK HERAGHTY

Company Chairman

Mark is a highly-experienced leader in the telecoms industry where, since the beginning of the 1990s, he has worked as a senior executive of companies such as Virgin Media and Cable & Wireless. Joining John Henry Group as Non-Executive Chairman, he is currently a Non-Executive Director at Interxion, a leading provider of data-centre services across Europe and is also a Strategic Advisor to SourceConnect.net, a provider of telecoms software services to businesses in the US and Europe.

His most recent executive role was as Managing Director of Virgin Media Business (2009-2013) and prior to that he was President EMEA for Reliance Globalcom with regional responsibility for the FLAG Telecom and Vanco acquisitions. During the 1990’s Mark held a number of Sales and Marketing roles at Mercury Communications and from 2000 to 2003 he was CEO Europe for Cable & Wireless.

Mark graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (1985) and holds an MBA awarded by Warwick University (1992).

Our management team is highly professional and they are responsible to the day to day running of vital areas of the business, including our human resources and compliance, accountancy support, marketing and communications and procurement.

RACHEL JOHNSON

Group Head of HR & Administration

Rachel is responsible for overseeing and managing John Henry Group’s HR and Administration team. Her role includes aspects of corporate governance, training, upskilling and development of our personnel and ensuring that all of John Henry Group staff are working compliantly and to the latest required industry standards. Rachel previously worked for a utility management consultancy for 11 years.

ROB ANDREWS

Group Marketing & Communications Manager

Rob is a former multi-media journalist, features writer and digital content manager with more than 10 years’ experience in commercial communications, marketing, press relations and branding development.  He is responsible for overseeing and developing the John Henry Group’s client relationship programme as well as managing the communications and branding strategy across all elements of the business online and offline and exploring new commercial opportunities and marketplaces for the business and its subsidiaries.

MARIA VEGA SANCHEZ

IT Development Manager

Maria has more than 13 years’ experience in IT development in the engineering and construction profession, working both internationally and in the United Kingdom. She is John Henry Group’s lead expert in the development of bespoke group safety, HR and quality application measurement systems and integrated databases. Maria’s expertise allows John Henry Group personnel to operate at the forefront of the engineering marketplace with the latest support technology to offer a market-leading customer experience.

PAUL WOOD

Group Procurement Manager

Paul is John Henry Group’s Procurement Manager overseeing purchasing and supply of essential equipment and plant materials. Paul’s team also assist in the maintenance, management and tracking of our UK-wide fleet of vehicles.

KEITH CAHILL

Operations Manager Avanti Group

After many years working within the civil engineering industry, Keith oversees Avanti Traffic as General Manager. Avanti Traffic Management Ltd has three distinct arms, Avanti Traffic Management , Avanti Street Lighting and Avanti Highway Services.

John Henry Biscomm Management Team

The John Henry Biscomm‘s leadership team is based across the UK, offering significant and consultative expertise and knowledge base across the deployment, upgrade and total management solution of all-scale fibre networks.

JAMES CARTER

Operations Manager

James has more than 16 years’ experience in Telecoms project management, having worked with Cable and Wireless and Virgin Media as clients. He currently manages the CT flex BDUK delivery project for John Henry Biscomm and has highly specialist knowledge in the delivery of telecommunications networks.

STEVE BARFOOT

CNS Overhead Surveyor & EWI Project Engineer

Steve has worked in the telecoms business for over forty years both on the internal (exchange installation, commissioning and maintenance) and external network (poles and overhead cables).

He current provides BT Openreach with overhead surveys/solutions for CNS, project managing the External Wall Insulation programme over the whole of the east of England.

JO WILSON

Business Manager, John Henry Biscomm

Jo brings 25 years’ experience of managing fibre network build upgrades for major telcos, including Virgin Media. Having been with John Henry Group’s Biscomm for more than a decade, Jo manages the day to day and general management of John Henry Biscomm in support of the directing staff.

NEIL BARKER

Operations Manager

Neil has been working in the telco industry for more than 30 years in various network and communications related roles both as a client and a contractor. He currently concentrates on the commercial and process issues for John Henry Group’s major clients, which currently include Virgin Media and Vodafone.

JAMIE LINEHAM

Project Manager

Jamie has been with John Henry Group two years having joined from Fibretech UK, where he was an operations manager. Previously to this he was with Beach Communications where he was the company’s contracts manager. In his current position Jamie already oversees CityFibre works, Virgin Media works and Vodafone works on behalf of John Henry Biscomm. He is also a highly experienced ERS call-out manager dealing with both cabling and civils works.

 

DAVE DUNNETT

Contracts Manager

David has worked in telecoms and civils engineering utility works for 25 years, 15 of these with John Henry Group. Specialising in fibre and power cabling, cabling and activation solutions he has project managed network builds, trunk routes and business installations for various clients from multi-nationals to small scale private jobs. Also experience of HV network build, running an EDF contract for 3 years.

BEN CROSS

Cabling Operations Manager (North)

Ben has been a part of John Henry Biscomm for six years and currently manages a large area that contains number of cable installation and splicing teams across the Virgin Media and Vodafone Network, located from London to Carlisle.

Ben specialises in delivering a series of large diversions, where a rapport must be built up with the developer in order to put forward and hit a co-ordinated schedule of works with the other contractors that will also be working on site during our working window. Ben recently delivered the highly complex Manchester Metrolink Diversion.

Ben expertise lies with supporting business objectives by strategic planning, implementing project and change management for efficiency and profitability initiatives and facilitating overall business strategy.

CHRIS SOOKNANAN

London Projects Manager

Chris has been with John Henry Biscomm for 5 years and works within the London area in the telecoms division. Chris works closely with Gary Herriott, taking on New Developments, Diversions, Business Installations and Emergency Responses (ERS responses) for John Henry Group’s Virgin Media client relations. Chris has also worked as a business partner to Vodafone and is currently overseeing the Virgin Media East Shoreditch Project upgrade and Thamesmead works.

GARY HERRIOT

Regional Operations Manager

Gary has more than 24 years’ experience of major telco contract management across the PLC and SME arena for telecommunications providers. His wealth of expertise within the field include ERS (rapid response) planning, as well as project management, cable installation, fibre splicing, copper, co-axial/ blown fibre solutions and providing communications and network solutions for multiple dwelling units (MDUs).

ROB ANGUS

Fibre Manager (South)

Rob has worked in telecoms for 5 years, having been with the John Henry Group the duration. His division, John Henry Biscomm, is responsible for planning the Cabling and Splicing side of the Virgin Media and Vodafone contracts for the south of the country as well as managing telecom installations for various private client.

John Henry Comms’ managers work with our clients to deliver the strategic design and construction solutions for all scale telecommunications networks across the United Kingdom.

Pat Henry is a company director of the John Henry Group. Pat’s experience and expertise have become a vital, value adding additive for many major and growing telcos and MSOs over the past three decades. Whilst working with the John Henry Group, Pat has worked with just about every ISP and service operator within the communications civil engineering arena.

JASON PEARCE

Operations Manager

Having been with John Henry Group for more than 17 years, Jason Pearce is a qualified architectural technician with more than 27 years of civil engineering and communications construction experience. Jason has a wide breadth of knowledge across all areas of telecommunications works, having worked with Vodafone, Virgin Media and a host of private communications networks.

DAVE GREENWOOD

Contracts Manager

David has worked in civil engineering communications and highways infrastructure for over 40 years. He has been with John Henry Group for 3 years, previously having worked as a Project Manager with Bouyges, NTL and Cable & Wireless. He is currently managing the MUS BDUK contract on behalf of John Henry Group.

JASON MEALEY

Group Telecomms Director

Jason has worked in telecoms and civil engineering communications for 25 years, having been with the John Henry Group for nearly two decades. His division, John Henry Communications, is responsible for planning the civil engineering side of FTTx deployment for various telcos and MSOs, including Virgin Media dn Vodafone.

JAMIE HARRIS

Operations Manager

Jamie began quality checking works 16 years ago and progressed within the telecoms industry and now manages  a variety of clients nationwide within an ever growing John Henry Group.  Jamie currently has been with JHG since 2007 and oversees John Henry Communications’ deployments UK wide.

 

BEN FOOT

Contracts Manager

Ben started with John Henry Group 8 years ago. In the first 3 years of his employment with the group, he completed and graduated with a degree and Construction Project Management. Ben has proven his ability and reputation managing large civil engineering contracts with clients such as Morrison Utility’s and Telent Carillion, in which his role for the last 2 years has been as the Civils Contracts Manager for BT Openreach BAU and BDUK areas.

Contracts Manager

Paul has a wealth of highways civil engineering expertise stretching across 36 years in design, rest and contracting. He has worked with all scale clients in the civil engineering and infrastructure, including Ringway, Anglian Water, Suffolk Highways, Essex Highways, Cambridgeshire County Council, Skanska and BAM.
